Accommodation
The Family Life:
The most popular type of accommodation provided by the our group are specially selected host families. Our prices are inclusive of tuition and twin room accommodation with a host family. Your host family will be more to you than just a place to live. Host Family accommodation provides all the comfort and security that you could wish for. You will be provided with a clean comfortable bedroom (On a twin room basis, single rooms available upon request) with space for your possessions and an area to study. Mealtimes with your host family will be an opportunity for you to explore the cuisine of your host country, and to practice your language skills as you share in the warmth of family life-this is a fantastic way to improve your English! Many our host families and students remain friends for life. Students are welcomed and treated like a part of the family during their stay. Likewise they are expected to behave with the appropriate respect and courtesy.
Our hosts vary a great deal. However, all hosts share in their interest in opening their homes to international students and learning about other cultures. Our hosts live in the suburbs and represent the middle class. Most hosts have at least 2 family members living at home. Many single people, however, especially in urban areas, have been excellent hosts. Our Housing Coordinators visit every host family to ensure that the accommodation passes our standards.
All Our families are chosen on the basis of their ability to provide you with a comfortable and safe environment, as well as the warmth of their family life. But some host families can provide special advantages-these are known as Premium Host Families. In the home of a Premium Host Family you might enjoy extra-luxurious accommodation, a shorter journey to school, or even haute cuisine cooking (facilities vary from location to location).
A typical host family lives in an apartment of a single dwelling home that usually consists of several bedrooms, a large living room, kitchen, and one or two bathrooms. Students are welcome to share the living room and socialize with the family in the home. Students 18 years and older are given a key to the house and are free to come and return as they please, as long as they do not disturb the household when returning late. Students under the age of 18 will also be given a key, but will be expected to return to the care of the family before 23:00.
Meals:
The family provides breakfast and dinner daily (14 meals per week). Breakfast (usually 7-9 AM) is often an informal meal and family members may not always eat together due to different work and school schedules. Dinner is a more social occasion; served between 5-7 PM. Your host family will appreciate your politeness if you call if you will be away for dinner.
Host family meals will vary as much as the families themselves. Families can often be busy on weekdays, so meals can be prepared and eaten quickly. On weekends, families may have more time to introduce students to their favorite foods. Approach the table with an open mind-whatever your host family serves you will reflect your family's unique lifestyle and background.
Any special dietary restrictions (for example, vegetarian) should be noted on the original application, so a suitable host family may be found.
Laundry:
The family provides bed linen and towels. Students may include their light laundry in the weekly household laundry. This includes blouses, shirts, nightwear, and underclothes. Students are expected to wash heavier laundry such as sweaters and jeans themselves. All host families have an iron and ironing board.
Telephone:
Students are requested not to use the family telephone for long-distance calls without permission. Incoming calls for students are welcome. When making long-distance calls, student should use a phone card or calling card number. Phone Cards are sold at the school. Many families require a phone deposit.
Transportation:
Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from school. Most families are located near public transportation. Don't worry about how to get to school on your first day; your host family will make sure you know exactly how to get there.
Age Requirement:
In most cases, you must be 16 years or older to live in one of our host families. If you have questions about your age, please contact BEE.
